Art, Market and Fake Revolutions

Interesting coincidence... At Art Cologne we met G.H. Hovagimyan - artist from New York, who had with us presentation of his video by Vernissage TV.
G.H. Hovagimyan, multimedia artist, is interested mainly in art market, role of artist and all dependences allowing or resisting liberation of art.
We recorded video with his speach.

Art, Market and Fake Revolutions

- radical liberation
- intension of revolution and art is the same
- art market creates fake revolutions
- art and real estates

G.H. Hovagimyan is an experimental artist working in a variety of forms.
He is one of the first artists in New York to start working with the Internet and new media in the early nineties. He is the director of the new media video art work Plazaville based on the classic 1965 movie Alphaville by Jean Luc Godard. Plazaville is set in 21st century New York City. The scenes from the original Alphaville are being re-enacted, interpreted and improvised upon by the artists, actors and videographers. The piece uses the internet as one means of distributing the short video clips. This is somewhat like a serialized program but is not in any order.
The final presentation of the work is envisioned as a video projection/ installation work.
The piece is a truly hypertextual/ hypermedia artwork that has an affinity with the meanderingnarrative that is a key device of graphic novels.
This work involves a loose collaborative of Artists in New York called Artists Meeting. Themembers are participating in the work as actors, camera-persons, set designers etc.

Rublov - Zizek - Rodchenko – Marks - Lolita – Lenin - Sierakowski– Sasnal – Krasnal

Between 12-14 May Slavoj Zizek provides lectures around Poland promoting the book „The Fragile Absolute”.

The Krasnals. Whielki Krasnal „Pioneer Girl after Rodchenko / The Road from the icon to the photograph is long”. 2009. Acrylic on canvas. 33 x 27 cm

The wager of Zizek’s The Fragile Absolute is that Christianity and Marxism should fight together against the onslaught of new spiritualism. The subversive core of the Christian legacy is much too precious to be left to the fundamentalists. Here is a fitting contribution from a Marxist to the 2000th anniversary of one who was well aware that to practice love in our world is to bring in the sword and fire.
He presents Christian message about redemption which gives the model for real left emancipation. The effect of successful sexual diversion. Polish church and conservative intellectuals are not so much interested in past or actual Christian reflection. It’s worth to look at contemporary left thought which is inspired by it.
